Where is Patriarchy!?
A Satirical Sketchbook
“There is nothing like patriarchy. It’s just a leftist word!” - said an influential person in India, recently.
Seriously, ma’am? After living in this country? A place where the evening news is practically a live demonstration of “How to Be Wrong to Women in 1000 Unique Ways!” Is the mere existence of a handful of successful women all it takes to erase the glaring, technicolor reality of patriarchy? That’s like finding one edible hospital meal and declaring, “Ah, gourmet healthcare!”
Naturally, I couldn’t resist sketching a few realities that immediately came to mind—though I suppose they don’t exist either, right?
This is normal, right? The sort of “normal” that sits you down with a cup of lukewarm tea and says, “Look, we’ve got progress, haven’t we? Now, stop complaining and be grateful.”
Urban Upwardly Mobile Educated Woman’s Balancing Act
It’s a world where women are thriving—or at least performing a spectacular balancing act, managing homes, raising kids, climbing the corporate ladder, and making it all look effortless. All while society claps politely and mutters, “Of course, she can do it all. But maybe she could do it all a little quieter?”
In this world, success for women is celebrated—provided it arrives neatly wrapped in ribbons of humility and subservience. Heaven forbid it should arrive with confidence and unsettle the fragile ecosystem of egos.
Consider this parallel universe - the kind where equality exists. Where women enjoy astonishing luxuries such as:

The reality where I live in, looks like this…
The Urban Mobile Equipped Working Class Woman
Seen in close proximity to the upwardly mobile highly educated woman is another world—a place where women juggle impossible burdens and impossible expectations. It’s all very scenic if you enjoy the aesthetics of oppression. Allow me to paint you a portrait—or better yet, let the images speak for themselves.
This blog by Dushyant beautifully captures the rant swirling in my head, layered with hard-hitting truths about the world we live in—the same world where, apparently, ‘patriarchy’ doesn’t exist. My favorite bit? Learning about the badass 4B movement in South Korea—mind blown! 🙀🤯 Read his blog here:
